Incorporating a number of small healthy changes into your lifestyle can make a big difference. That is how a healthy lifestyle begins. I’ve been watching a number of different videos from my favorite fitness and health vloggers (let me know if you want to see a blog post about my favorites!), and there are a number of changes I have made to my life in order for it to be a healthier and happier one.

Today I’ll be sharing a number of small changes I’ve made to my life that have helped me, and hopefully you are able to see similar changes in your own health.

Starting (and Ending) My Day With Tea

I’ve never been a coffee drinker, but anyone who knows me knows that I am a bit of a tea fanatic. There are so many wonderful health benefits to tea (Google it, and you’ll find dozens!). For that reason and for my love of sipping on a warm cup each morning, I’ve incorporated tea into both my morning and evening routine. Like coffee, tea is an acquired taste for most people, so give a few different kinds a good try.

I like to start my morning off with a nice cup of English Breakfast tea (my love!). Black tea is great for gut health! The boost of caffeine isn’t as crazy as coffee, so you get a small boost of energy without the jitters.

Most recently, I have been finishing off my day with a cup of green tea (a good starter tea that is very light). Most green teas don’t have any caffeine, so it’s perfect for the evening. Green tea helps with digestion, so it’s a great way to finish off your day on a healthy note, especially if you’ve had quite a big dinner.

Add A Veggie To Every Meal

When I first started committing to eating healthy, one of my biggest struggles was incorporating more veggies into my meals (#pickyeater). Because of that, I made a goal for myself to include at least one veggie in each of my meals. It wasn’t much, but it was the start that I really needed for myself. Now veggies like corn, broccoli, and green beans are the first foods I reach for when cooking up a meal, but we all have to start somewhere. If you too have a hard time incorporating veggies into your diet, try this tip.

Stretching Often

No matter how much weight lifting or exercising you do, stretching is an incredibly vital part to incorporate into your routine. Stretching allows you to stay mobile during your workouts and encourage range of movement. It helps to prevent injuries and preventing sore muscles too. Sometimes I forget to stretch after my workouts, but there is nothing like ending my day with a good stretch. It can help to loosen up any kinks you may have (we all have a few).

Stretching can be done any time of the day. Morning stretches are a great way to get the blood flowing and to make you feel more awake in the morning. Evening stretches can lead to a more comfortable night of sleep. You can also choose to stretch before and after your workouts. Do it as often as you can!

Committing To A Healthy Start

I am the queen for recipe repeating. I just get really stuck on meals I love and can’t get away from them. When I start my day off with a healthy breakfast, I start my day up for success. That first taste of something healthy that will fuel your body is a great motivator for a full day of healthy eating. I always like to start my day with eggs, which are packed with protein and fiber in order to keep me full longer. Make a goal for yourself to start your day with a healthy meal. It will encourage you to continue the rest of the day in just the same way.

Find A Healthy Alternative For My Night Time Treats

We all know that horrid time of the night in between dinner and bedtime when you are just craving a snack. I know that I am always dying for something to cure my sweet tooth. I always have a small dessert after dinner, but sometimes that isn’t enough. I realized that even though I was craving lots of unhealthy sweet treats, I could supplement that craving with something healthy and sweet. My choice was raises, but I know they aren’t pleasing for everyone. The dried fruit is incredibly sweet, and I can go through handfuls in one sitting. Raisins are a much healthier alternative for me and keep me satisfied throughout the night.
